Sirappuli Nayanar
Sirappuli Nayanar is the Nayanar of ceaseless Vedic recitation — the scholar-devotee of Thiruvathavur? — of the Pandya country whose hymn was his whole life.
Life/Legend
The hagiography relates that Sirappuli, a learned devotee, gave himself to the uninterrupted recitation of the Vedas as service; the tradition counts him with the Vedic exemplars of the canon (beside Rudra Pasupathi) — learning poured out rather than held. The god is said to have accepted the recitation as his own worship.
Legacy
His story anchors the Nayanar honoring of scriptural learning as devotion’s instrument.
