    Siddhārāmeśvar Mahārāj

Siddhārāmeśvar Mahārāj (1888–1936) was a guru in the Inchagiri Sampradaya — founded by his guru Bhausaheb Maharaj as a branch of the Navnath Sampradaya, the “Nine Masters” tradition — and the primary guru of Nisargadatta Maharaj. He transmitted the direct path of Advaita through simple, powerful methods that bypassed elaborate practices and rituals.

    Life/History

Born in 1888 in Nimbarga, in present-day Karnataka, he was initiated into the Inchagiri Navnath lineage by Bhausaheb Maharaj. He spent his life teaching and guiding disciples in the direct method of self-inquiry, emphasizing the immediate recognition of one’s true nature.

    Teachings/Contributions

His teachings were rooted in the Navnath tradition’s direct approach. He emphasized abiding in the self, transcending the mind, and recognizing the timeless awareness that underlies all experience. His methods were simple yet profound, requiring disciples to let go of all conceptual frameworks and rest in pure being.

    Legacy

His disciples included Nisargadatta Maharaj, Ranjit Maharaj, Kaadsiddheshwar, and Ganapatrao Maharaj Kannur. Through Nisargadatta and the book I Am That, the Inchagiri lineage teachings reached a global audience, and Siddhārāmeśvar’s teachings continue to inspire spiritual seekers worldwide, particularly those drawn to the direct path of Advaita Vedanta.
