    Revananath

Revananath (Revan Siddh) is one of the nine masters of the Navnath Sampradaya and the founder-figure, in that tradition’s own genealogy, of the line through which the Inchagiri Sampradaya traces itself — the line later associated with Siddharameshwar Maharaj and Nisargadatta Maharaj.

    Tradition/Life

The Nath accounts place Revananath among Matsyendranath’s successors and locate his principal seat at Kadalivana, near Nevasa in Maharashtra. The hagiographies tell of his founding of the lineage and of miracles on its behalf; these are devotional narratives of the sampradaya.

    Teachings/Works

No authenticated works are attributed to him. His significance is as the ancestral guru of the lineage that, in the 19th century, produced the Inchagiri teaching of the Name and the Self.

    Legacy

The Inchagiri Sampradaya’s succession lists begin from Revananath; his memory is honoured in the recitations of both the Navnath and Inchagiri branches.
