    Bhagat Pipa

Bhagat Pipa is the rajah-turned-saint of the Guru Granth Sahib — a king of Gagaron? — of Gagron in Malwa who gave up his throne for the seeking life, represented in the scripture by a single hymn on the God who dwells in the heart.

    Life

Traditions make him a Solanki? — a royal of Gagron (Jhalawar, Rajasthan), disciple (per the bhakti networks) of Ramananda’s circle. His one shabad in the Granth — “the treasure is within the body; search it there” (antar dehe jo dhyan? — the hymn’s refrain on the inner jewel) — carries the whole inner-turn of his biography.

    Teachings/Works

The single hymn’s doctrine — God as the wealth hidden in the body, to be sought by the guru’s grace — is his collected philosophy.

    Legacy

Sikhs read him among the bhagats (his hymn at Ang? — in the Granth’s ragas); Rajasthan’s bhakti memory keeps the king who became a seeker.

    Verification notes

    • His dates and kingdom are traditional; the hymn is the secure anchor.
