    Jigme Gyalwai Nyugu

Jigme Gyalwai Nyugu (c. 1759–1815) was a Tibetan Buddhist master and one of the foremost disciples of Jigme Lingpa, the great Nyingma tertön.

    Background

Born in the Kham region of eastern Tibet, Jigme Gyalwai Nyugu was recognized as a reincarnate master from a young age. He received extensive training in the Nyingma tradition and became one of the most accomplished meditation masters of his generation.

    Spiritual Contribution

Jigme Gyalwai Nyugu was the primary recipient of Jigme Lingpa’s innermost teachings, particularly the Longchen Nyingthig cycle of terma. He mastered the practice of Trekchö (breakthrough) and Tögal (direct crossing), the highest teachings of the Nyingma Dzogchen tradition. His transmission of these teachings preserved them for future generations.

    Legacy and Impact

Jigme Gyalwai Nyugu’s preservation and transmission of the Longchen Nyingthig teachings made them accessible to subsequent generations of Nyingma practitioners. He is considered one of the key links in the unbroken lineage of Dzogchen transmission from Jigme Lingpa to the present day.
