    Gahininath

Gahininath is counted among the nine masters of the Navnath Sampradaya, the traditional Nath lineage of Maharashtra and North India.

    Tradition/Life

The Navnath lists place Gahininath in the succession descending from Adinath (Shiva) through Matsyendranath and Gorakhnath. The hagiographic literature gives him few narrative episodes; he functions chiefly as a link in the initiatory line. Devotional accounts attribute to him yogic attainment and care for disciples.

    Teachings/Works

No works are attributed to him. Within the tradition his significance is as a lineage holder of the Nath transmission.

    Legacy

His name appears in Navnath liturgies, in Nath maths, and in the genealogical recitations of the sampradaya.
