    Citsukha

Citsukha (c. 12th–13th century CE) was an Advaita Vedanta philosopher and the author of the Tattva Pradeepika, a work defending Advaita against rival philosophical schools.

    Background

Citsukha was a Advaita Vedanta scholar who lived during the period when the school was facing serious philosophical challenges from Ramanuja’s Vishishtadvaita, Madhvacharya’s Dvaita, and other dualist and qualified non-dualist schools.

    Spiritual Contribution

Citsukha’s Tattva Pradeepika (“Lamp of Truth”) is a polemical work that defends Advaita Vedanta against the criticisms of its rivals. He engages directly with the arguments of Ramanuja, Madhva, and others, offering systematic rebuttals and reaffirming the core Advaita position. His work represents one of the most sustained philosophical defenses of Advaita in the medieval period.

    Legacy and Impact

Citsukha’s work is important for understanding the philosophical debates that shaped the later Advaita tradition. His defense of the school against its rivals helped maintain the intellectual vitality and dominance of Advaita Vedanta.
