Bhai Lachhman Singh
Bhai Lachhman Singh is a figure in Sikh tradition often confused with the sons of Guru Gobind Singh, but the Guru had only four sons — Baba Ajit Singh, Baba Jujhar Singh, Baba Zorawar Singh, and Baba Fateh Singh.
Background
The claim that Guru Gobind Singh had a son named Lachhman Singh who was martyred at Chamkaur is not supported by historical sources. The Guru’s two elder sons, Ajit Singh and Jujhar Singh, were martyred at the Battle of Chamkaur in 1704, while the two younger sons, Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh, were martyred at Sirhind.
Spiritual Contribution
The martyrdom of the four Sahibzade of Guru Gobind Singh exemplified the Sikh principles of courage and justice, and their sacrifice is central to Sikh commemoration.
Legacy and Impact
The Sahibzade are honored as Shaheeds (martyrs) who gave their lives in defense of the Sikh faith. Their sacrifice continues to inspire Sikhs around the world.
