Yogini Hridaya
The Yogini Hridaya (“Heart of the Yogini”) is the doctrinal heart-text of the Shri Vidya tradition — the inner meaning of the Shri Chakra and of Lalita’s worship, revealed as the goddess’s own self-explanation.
Content
Framed as the goddess’s response to Shiva’s question, the text (in three sections? — in its short chapters) expounds the Shri Chakra’s nine enclosures as the body of the goddess and as the sadhaka’s own subtle anatomy: the triangles as speech’s powers (vak), the circles as the deities’ courts, the bindu as the self. It stands in the tradition as the commentary-key to the Vamakeshvara Tantra — Amritananda’s gloss (the Yoginihridaya-vivarana) welded the two.
Significance
For Shri Vidya the Yogini Hridaya is what the Yoga Sutras are for yoga: the compact source whose every phrase is commentary-laden. Its three-section structure (maha? — its three chapters on the chakra’s essential, ritual, and subtle forms) fixed the tradition’s map of worship.
