    Shaktapitha

Shaktapitha refers to sacred sites where parts of Sati’s body fell during Shiva’s cosmic dance.

    Overview

Shaktapithas (“Seats of Shakti”) are sacred pilgrimage sites in Hinduism where parts of the goddess Sati’s body are believed to have fallen. There are 51 or 52 such sites across the Indian subcontinent, each associated with a specific form of the goddess.

    Method/Content

Each Shaktapitha is associated with a specific body part of Sati and is worshipped as a manifestation of the goddess. Pilgrims visit these sites for worship, rituals, and to receive the goddess’s blessings. The sites often have elaborate temples and ritual practices.

    Purpose/Benefits

Visiting Shaktapithas is believed to grant spiritual merit, fulfillment of desires, and protection. The sites are also considered powerful centers of spiritual energy for meditation and sadhana.
