    Saraswati Puja (Goddess Saraswati Worship)

Saraswati Puja is a Hindu ritual practice dedicated to Goddess Saraswati, the deity of knowledge, music, arts, and wisdom.

    Overview

Saraswati Puja honors Goddess Saraswati, the divine consort of Lord Brahma and the embodiment of knowledge, learning, and creative arts. The goddess is depicted seated on a lotus, dressed in white, holding a veena (stringed instrument), a book, and a mala (prayer beads). The puja is especially important for students, scholars, musicians, and artists.

    Method/Content

The puja is performed on Vasant Panchami (the fifth day of spring) and during Navaratri. Books, instruments, and writing materials are placed before the goddess’s image as offerings. She is adorned with white or yellow flowers, saffron, and turmeric. The worship includes mantra recitation of “Om Aim Saraswatyai Namaha,” offering of yellow sweets, and prayer for wisdom. Students place their books at the goddess’s feet to receive blessings for academic success.

    Purpose/Benefits

Saraswati Puja is performed to invoke wisdom, knowledge, and creative inspiration. It removes obstacles to learning, enhances memory and concentration, and promotes success in academic and artistic pursuits.
