Sharadatilaka Tantra
The Sharadatilaka Tantra (“Ornamental Moon of Sharada”) of Lakshmanadeshikendra is the classic manual of mantra-shastra — the theory and practice of mantra, nyasa, yantra, and worship, accepted across the Shakta and Smarta worlds.
Content
In eleven? — its chapters (paṭalas) cover the alphabet of power (the matrka-nyasa of the letters), the bija mantras and their esoteric grammars, the construction and consecration of yantras, the forms of the deities (Durga, Lakshmi, Sarasvati, Ganesha and others), initiation, and the daily worship sequence. Its clear systematic voice made it the standard digest: later traditions read the whole tantric ritual apparatus through its categories.
Significance
The Sharadatilaka is the bridge text between the tantric schools and the Smarta mainstream — quoted in the digests (nibandhas), taught in the traditional curricula, and still the source for the ritual manuals of Devi worship. Raghava Bhatta’s 16th-century commentary (Padarthadarsha) is the standard gloss.
