Sadhu Vaswani Mission
The Sadhu Vaswani Mission is the spiritual-educational organization founded by Sadhu T.L. Vaswani (1929, Hyderabad, Sindh) — a Christianity-and-Vedanta-schooled Sindhi sage whose movement emphasizes reverence for all life, education of girls, and the “heart culture.”
Overview
Thanwardas Lilaram Vaswani (1879–1966), professor and orator, founded the Sakhi Satsang (1929) which became the Mission; after Partition (1947) the Mission relocated to Pune, where the Sadhu Vaswani Kendra and its schools and colleges grew; his successor Dada J.P. Vaswani (1918–2018) led the global expansion.
Core teachings
Reverence for all life (the Mission’s signature — vegetarianism, the International Meatless Day), the primacy of the heart over intellect (“head is in the heart’s way”), Christ-Vedanta harmony, and seva (service) as worship.
Practice and work
The Mira and St. Mira’s schools and colleges (girls’ education central), medical and relief work, satsangs and the annual meatless-day campaigns, and the Mission’s publications.
Modern status
Centers across India and the diaspora; the Mission’s interfaith character and educational focus remain its public identity.
