Prana Mudra
Prana Mudra is a hand gesture (mudra) used to activate vital energy in yoga and Ayurveda.
Overview
Prana Mudra, meaning “life seal,” is a mudra formed by joining the tips of the ring finger and little finger with the tip of the thumb, while the index and middle fingers remain extended. It is one of the most commonly practiced mudras for energizing the body.
Method/Content
The ring finger and little finger are folded to touch the tip of the thumb, forming a circuit. The index and middle fingers remain straight and extended. The hands rest on the knees with palms facing upward. The mudra is held for 15 to 45 minutes during meditation or pranayama practice. It can be practiced at any time of day.
Purpose/Benefits
Prana Mudra is said to activate prana shakti (vital life force) and increase overall energy. It is believed to improve eyesight, boost immunity, and reduce fatigue. The practice also helps calm the mind and is beneficial for those feeling lethargic or depleted.
