Muladhara Chakra Dhyana (Root Chakra Meditation)
Muladhara Chakra Dhyanary/chakra) Dhyana is a meditation practice focused on the muladhara (root) chakra at the base of the spine.
Overview
Muladhara, meaning “root support,” is the first and foundational primary chakra located at the base of the spine, near the perineum. It is associated with survival, security, grounding, stability, and the earth element. This chakra governs the adrenal glands, legs, feet, and bones, and is considered the seat of kundalini energy.
Method/Content
The practitioner sits in a meditative posture with the spine erect and feet firmly grounded on the floor. The attention is directed to the base of the spine, visualizing a four-petaled lotus in vibrant red light. The bija mantra “LAM” is mentally chanted while focusing on the earth element at the root. The practice involves cultivating feelings of safety, stability, and connection to the earth while releasing fear and insecurity.
Purpose/Benefits
Muladhara Chakra meditation promotes grounding, stability, and a sense of security. It is believed to strengthen the immune system, improve physical health, and establish a firm foundation for all spiritual practices. Regular practice is said to reduce anxiety, increase feelings of safety, and create the stability necessary for personal growth and spiritual development.
