    Maruti Dhyana (Hanuman Meditation)

Maruti Dhyana is a devotional meditation practice focused on Lord Hanuman (also known as Maruti), the monkey god and embodiment of devotion, strength, and service.

    Overview

Maruti Dhyana involves meditating on the form, qualities, and energy of Lord Hanuman, the divine monkey deity celebrated in the Ramayana as the ideal devotee of Lord Rama. Hanuman represents perfect devotion (bhakti), selfless service (seva), courage, and the mastery of prana (he is called “Prana Deha” — one whose body is prana). This meditation cultivates these qualities in the practitioner.

    Method/Content

The practitioner sits in a comfortable meditative posture and begins by invoking Hanuman’s presence through prayer. The meditation may involve: visualization of Hanuman’s form — his strong body, devoted gaze, and mace (gada); contemplation of his qualities — fearlessness, loyalty, humility, and strength; chanting of Hanuman mantras such as “Om Hanumate Namah” or “Jai Shri Ram”; and reflection on his life story from the Ramayana. The practice may conclude with a prayer for the development of Hanuman-like qualities in daily life.

    Purpose/Benefits

Maruti Dhyana cultivates devotion, courage, physical and mental strength, and selfless service. It is believed to remove fear, overcome obstacles, and provide protection from negative energies. The practice strengthens the will, enhances vitality (through connection to Hanuman’s pranic nature), and fosters the quality of unwavering faith. It is especially beneficial for those seeking to develop discipline and dedication in their spiritual practice.
