    Kukkutasana

Kukkutasana is an arm balancing yoga posture, also known as the rooster or cock pose.

    Overview

Kukkutasana, meaning “rooster posture,” is an arm balance performed from Padmasana (lotus pose) where the body is lifted off the floor by pressing the hands through the gaps between the thighs and calves.

    Method/Content

The practitioner first sits in Padmasana, then inserts the hands through the gaps between the thighs and calves. The palms press firmly into the floor, and the body is lifted by straightening the arms. The lotus-bound legs remain in position as the entire body balances on the hands. The posture is held for 10 to 30 seconds.

    Purpose/Benefits

Kukkutasana strengthens the arms, wrists, and shoulders while developing core stability. It improves balance and concentration. The posture is said to stimulate the abdominal organs, improve digestion, and tone the pelvic region.

    Verification Notes
