    Flying Crow (Eka Pada Galavasana)

Eka Pada Galavasana is an advanced arm balance asana in Ashtanga Yoga.

    Overview

Flying Crow, meaning “one-legged Galava pose,” is an arm balance where one leg is hooked over the arm while the other extends back. It is one of the most advanced arm balances in the Ashtanga system.

    Method/Content

From a standing forward fold, one leg is hooked over the corresponding upper arm near the shoulder. The hands are placed on the floor, and the body weight shifts forward onto the hands. The hooked leg presses against the arm while the other leg extends straight back. The gaze is forward and the core maintains balance.

    Purpose/Benefits

Flying Crow strengthens the arms, core, and shoulders while developing advanced balance and concentration. It stretches the hips and hamstrings of the hooked leg. The pose builds confidence and determination.
