Daśanāmī Saṃpradāya
The Daśanāmī (“ten names”) order is the network of renunciate lineages traditionally traced to Ādi Śaṅkara, whose monks carry one of ten title-names (e.g., Sarasvatī, Purī, Bhāratī).
Structure
The order is organized into maṭhas and sub-lineages, and historically provided the institutional backbone for much of Hindu monastic life.
