The Modern Reinvention of the Chakra System
A research summary documenting how the seven-chakra, rainbow-coloured model popular worldwide emerged largely from 19th–20th century Theosophical writing (Leadbeater, Blavatsky circle) layered onto earlier tantric sources (Ṣaṭcakranirūpaṇa, 1577), which describe six or more centres with different associations and a colour symbolism distinct from the modern seven-colour rainbow scheme.
