Ajna Chakra Dhyana (Third Eye Meditation)

Ajna Chakra Dhyanary/chakra) Dhyana is a meditation practice focused on the ajna (third eye) chakra between the eyebrows.

    Overview

Ajna, meaning “command” or “perception,” is the sixth primary chakra located between and slightly above the eyebrows. It is associated with intuition, insight, imagination, and the ability to perceive beyond ordinary sight. Meditation on this chakra is believed to awaken higher perception and inner vision.

    Method/Content

The practitioner sits in a meditative posture with the spine erect and eyes closed. The attention is directed to the point between the eyebrows, visualizing a two-petaled lotus in deep indigo or violet light. The practitioner may focus on the breath, use the bija mantra “OM” or “AUM,” or simply rest in awareness of the space between the brows. As concentration deepens, the practitioner may experience visual phenomena such as lights, colors, or patterns. The meditation typically lasts 15-20 minutes.

    Purpose/Benefits

Ajna Chakra meditation enhances intuition, clarity of thought, and inner perception. It is believed to activate the pineal gland, improve concentration, and develop the capacity for insight beyond ordinary logic. Regular practice is said to strengthen willpower, improve decision-making, and open the doorway to higher states of awareness.
